Kitty Bee Aloha Friday - Monochromatic

I love monochromatic cards!  It sort of takes all the color guesswork out of the project.  Our new Aloha Friday Challenge at Kitty Bee Designs is Monochromatic.  Our sponsor is Lacy Sunshine.  I chose an image called "Tilly Dinosaur".  I thought Tilly was so cute!  And I needed to make card for a little boy so what could be better than a dinosaur?  Of course the color scheme had to be greens and so papers from the stash came in very handy.  Add some Washi tape and voila - the card is on it's way to a little boy and hopefully will bring a smile to his face.

Bird Birthday

Nothing like waiting until the last minute huh?  That's what I'm doing here....I had all month to make a card with this months image at From the Heart Stamps and I'm just now posting my creation.

I loved the image this month and it seems like I never have enough Birthday cards so this was just perfect!  When I was trying to figure out what color to make my bird all I kept thinking about was "the bluebird of happiness".  LOL!!  Looking at the blue marker choices I couldn't decide and then seemed to be leaning towards almost a teal color so my bluebird turned teal.  You just never know how things are going to go when you sit down at the craft table.  LOL!!

Crafter's Cafe - Red, Pink, and White

Remember all those Valentine's you were making a couple weeks ago?  I'm sure that you have scraps of red, pink, and white paper along with embellishments laying around that were left over.  Well do I have an opportunity for you!  The new challenge at The Crafter's Cafe is a color challenge and you can use all those items left over!  Yep - Red, Pink, and White is our theme!

Our sponsors for this challenge are Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps and Guylous Inimitability Digital Stamps.  Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps not only has digi's but also clear stamps too.  One of my absolute favorite lines at Sweet 'n Sassy is Cocoa the mouse!  He's soooooo cute!!!  So I chose "Cocoa's Gift" because I needed to make a Birthday card for a friend.  I used one of my new embossing folders from Spellbinders and then papers I had left over from Valentine's cards.

Eureka Challenge #78 - Add a Butterfly

This week at Eureka Stamps we are dreaming of Spring and Summer by asking you to add a Butterfly to your project.  The butterfly can be the image, and embellishment, or even the paper...as long as a butterfly is somewhere on your project.

For my card I used Digi58901 - Lacy Butterfly.  One of our DT members often uses watercolor crayons and I always love her cards!  So I decided to break out my watercolor pencils for this one.  I colored the image with the watercolor pencils and then blended the color with baby oil (because I was just too lazy to get up and get some water - LOL!!!).  Then I decided to cut out the butterflies and pop them up so they almost look like they are coming off the paper (at least that is what I was trying to go for....).

I have to admit that I was rather pleased with how this one turned out.  Usually I'm very critical of my own cards but this one I liked.

Digistamps4Joy - "Use DIES or PUNCHES"

It's time for a new challenge at Digistamps4Joy and this challenge theme is to "Use DIES or PUNCHES".  I must confess that with being sick the last couple weeks I have not been spending time in my craft room and waited until the absolute last minute.  Usually I'm more on top of things.  This is not the best way to start off a Design Team assignment.  But the good news is that I woke up this morning and wasn't coughing as much.  Hoping by the end of the week to be 100% and back on track,

For my card I used an image called "Best Friends".  When I was looking at the image I decided I didn't want to use markers but wanted to use pencils to color it to keep it soft.  I liked the that the dog looked shaggy and so I kept that "shaggy" feel in coloring the little girl by not blending the colors after I used the pencils.  The die cut is the white doily.

Come on over and join us at Digistamps4Joy - I'd love to see you!!!

Animal Friends

I'm an animal lover....and this week at Eureka Stamps our theme is "Animal Friends".  Just use an animal image in your card and join in the fun!!

I used "Bunny Pile" for my card.  The bunnies were left white and I used Spica Glitter pens for the flowers.

A Turtle-riffic Day!

I'm celebrating today!  The snow is melting!!!!  Ok, so we are supposed to get another couple inches tomorrow but at least some melted yesterday.  But I think it's going to be June before the big pile that was plowed out of our driveway melts.  So since I'm celebrating - why not make a card that celebrates something- right?

This little turtle is part of the of the February Digi of the Month set over at Deedee's Digis.  It's called "Turtle-riffic Day"  Did you know that if you participate in Deedee's Monthly challenge - you get the next months Digi of the Month set for FREE?!  Who doesn't like free digi's?  The only thing you need to do to enter is to get the February set and create a card using it.  You can purchase the set for $1.25 here or you get it for free if you spend $10.

Now with my card I have to confess that I really screwed up.  The sentiment was supposed to be diagonal against the turtle.  But when I cut the corner off the image - after I matted it - it was too much and the sentiment didn't go the whole distance!  LOL!!  So that is why the ribbon is there - to cover my cut - LOL!!!  It all worked out all...but I just had to share my mistake. Confession is good for the soul - right?

Kitty Bee Designs Aloha Friday - Use Red/Pink

Uh-oh - I'm a day late!  Slap my hands.....I've been sick for 2 weeks and just out of sorts.  But I guess better late than never huh?

It's time for another Aloha Friday challenge at Kitty Bee Designs and our theme this round is "Use Red / Pink".  Our sponsor is MelJen Designs and the winner of the challenge will get their choice of 4 uncolored digis!  WOW!!!

I used "Hearty Hippo" for my card. The big "LOVE" I had left over from a card kit.  It's always great finding those little gems in the stash that just work perfectly for a card at the moment!

Join us at Kitty Bee Designs - you have until Feb.28th to enter.  The winner will be announced the Sunday after.

Must Have Hearts - The Crafter's Cafe

It's a new challenge week at The Crafter's Cafe and our theme this week is "Must Have Hearts".  We have two great sponsors again this week:

- and -

I was able to use a Bugaboo image called "Heart Balloons".  Honestly, I couldn't bring myself to make another Valentine card - LOL!!  So I wanted something different.  I loved this little boy and loved the way the card turned out too.  It's already in the mail heading to his destination too.  I colored him with Spectrum Noir markers and kept the card simple with minimal embellishment and papers.

"Love Is In The Air" at Eureka Stamps!

"LOVE IS IN THE AIR" at Eureka Stamps this week!  Yep - that's our theme....great one huh?  It doesn't just mean Valentine's Day...it can mean weddings, engagements, simply saying "I love you".  There are so many ways to interpret this theme!

My card used 2 images from Eureka Stamps.  Remember that at Eureka you can purchase the images in either digi form or traditional red rubber.  I used the digi versions:  Digi53201(574) – Love Flourishes and Digi57402 -  Heart Tree

I hope you join us at Eureka Stamps this week for "LOVE IS IN THE AIR"!

Carrier's of Faith Blog Hop

As part of the Carrier's of Faith blog group on SCS, we have a theme that is given to us every month by the hostess of the month and then on the 9th we are to post what that means to us.  This month our hostess is Barb (who is sunning herself in Hawaii as I'm typing this looking that the SNOW!).  Here's what Barb gave us:

February Challenge Colossians 3:23 --Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.

The Living Bible version-- --Work hard and cheerfully at all you do, just as though you were working for the Lord and not merely for your masters

I think we all work hard at many things in life--so I want to challenge you to think of what you might work hard at, but cheerfully. You can take this a few ways:  ~Perhaps--you can take a picture of what you would do as a career, if you could "be anything you want to be" when "you grow up". The sky is the limit--no restrictions at all. What is a job you would love to have?  ~Or--look around and see what you love to do in life. It could be cooking, or crafting, or gardening, or reading, or whatever....... What do you do that always puts a smile on your face or gets you in a good mood?

Honestly, I have struggled with this.  I mean gee, here it is - almost 4pm and I'm just now writing this post.  I had ideas...but nothing seemed to really settle in my soul.  Certainly I work full time and try to do my job to the best of my ability and also as a reflection of God.  And yes, I do other things in my life outside of work such as my crafting where I try to also show the love of Jesus.  But nothing was really clicking when thinking about what to write today.   And as far as trying to put that into a "photo" - well, my mind was a total blank.

Then I got to thinking about life in general....you know - daily living.  The verse started speaking to me with a loud horn then!!  "WHATEVER you do, work at it with all your heart...."  It doesn't say just one thing - just do your job that you get paid for....or your crafting....or what you like to do....it's even the stuff you don't like to do....it's even doing the dishes...it's dusting....it's laundry...and yes - even cleaning the bathroom.  And Barb including the Living Bible translation was wonderful - "Work hard and CHEERFULLY at ALL you do.....".

Can I say that?  I can say that I do everything cheerfully?  Can I say that WHATEVER I do, I do it with all my heart?  I realized that part of why I was struggling so much with this theme is because God was speaking to my heart and showing me that I do need to make some adjustments.  Most people would look at my life and say yes, I do.  But in the deep recesses of my heart, there is some grumbling and resentment sometimes - and that is what God sees.  That's the ugly parts that I can slap a smile on my face and hide from everyone else...but God sees and God knows.  And is that truly being a reflection of Jesus?  The Bible says in II Timothy 3:16 that "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness".  This certainly was given to me for reproof, correction, and instruction.

I don't have a photo to share with you today....but I do have something that I found on Pinterest.  There is a lot of truth in these 7 keys to life.....and the first one is the most important!  The really neat thing is if you master the first one - the other 6 you don't even have to work at because they just automatically happen.

I hope you take the time visit the other Carriers of Faith.  You can find the blog role on the left hand side of my blog.  God bless you today and thank you for stopping by to spend a few moments with me.

Kitty Bee Spotlight - "For You Valentine Bun"

Being part of the Kitty Bee Designs DT is such a blessings.  The ladies are amazing and gee, Kitty Bee Design images are just so adorable!!!  There are certain days that spotlights one of the DT members and it just so happens that the second Saturday of each month is ME!

For my DT Spotlight card I used an image called For You Valentine Bun.  It's just the perfect image I think - not only for this time of year (Valentine's Day), but also because it can be used for a child's card, a Birthday card, Thinking of You, and even one of my favorite type of cards to make - Baby cards!  As I have mentioned before I do make cards for the Community Pregnancy Center here in town.  If you're a cardmaker and happen to have any extras - they would love to have them.  (I know, I know - a shameless plug - LOL!).

Thanks for stopping by today!  And while your jumping around online - why not check out all the fabulous images at Kitty Bee Designs!  God bless you!!!!

Pattie's Creations Design Challenge - Use RED

Happy Friday!!!!  It's been a long week and yes, it snowed and it is cold.  Someday all this white stuff will melt and it will warm up.  LOL!!

Friday brings a new challenge at Pattie's Creations Design Challenge and this week the theme is to use RED in your creation.  Remember the only real rule at Pattie's Creations is that you must use an image on your project....and of course, this time use red.

Next week is one of our granddaughters Birthday so I decided to make a Birthday card for this challenge.  The image is called "Hearts Cupcake".  Once I colored it, I cut it out and then used pop dots to lift it off the card a bit.  Since I was using heart paper that was darker, I needed something to sort of back it...and low and behold in my stash I found a die cut that I had been sent in a swap a while back.  Love when things from the stash can be used!  Add a ribbon and some bling...and this is what you get:

Don't forget that that the only rule is to use an image...and while you don't have to use a Pattie's Creations image, we would love it if you do.  OH - and guess what?  At Pattie's Creations Design Challenge it's FREEBIE FRIDAY!  Stop on over and get your freebie HERE!  If you use one of Pattie's images you get an extra entry into the challenge!!  Hope to see you over at Pattie's Creations!

Digistamps4Joy - Challenge #85 - HEARTS

I'm excited to announce I'm now part of the Digistamps4Joy Design Team!  And today is my very first post.  The theme for the challenge is HEARTS.  Now how perfect is that since Valentine's Day is right around the corner?  The challenge runs from today (Feb.5th) until Tuesday, Feb.18th.  The heart theme can be the whole shape of your card (which is what I did) or hearts incorporated in your card in some way (which I also did - LOL!).  Of course we would LOVE it if you used an image from Digistamps4Joy, but you can use any image you'd like.

A while back I was sent a package of heart shaped cards.  I never do shaped cards and didn't really know what to do with these things.  But when I saw the theme for this challenge....I knew it just had to be...even though it's really out of my comfort zone.  And I also went out of my comfort zone with the image....I never do anything "steampunk" but I saw this image and had to see what I could do with it.  The name of the image is "Heart Geared For You" and it was just released in January 2014.  I colored the image with markers and then went over the key in the middle with gold Stickles.  The bow actually came off a store-bought card that I received a few weeks ago.  Nothing like recycling right?  Here's the final product:

Eureka Stamps: Red/Pink/White

It's a color challenge this week over at Eureka Stamps!  And what better colors for February:  Red - Pink - White.  Of course the first thing we all think about is Valentine's Day - but you don't have to make a Valentine.  The card can be anything you want it to be....it can be a red/pink/white Birthday card or even get a start on Christmas cards for this year!

I've been on a quest to use more of my scraps and I found a sketch that would do just that!  I also wanted to make a card that would not only work for a Valentine card, but also a note card that can be sent any time of the year.  I used Digi35701 If You Have Love and Digi901 Heart Quilt Pendant.  The neat thing about Eureka Stamps is that not only do they come in digi form, but these same images can be ordered in traditional red rubber!!  Check out the Eureka Stamps Store!  Here's my final product:

CAS Sympathy

Today I had to make a few sympathy cards.  I've seen so many beautiful sympathy cards and I can't ever seem to make one that I'm happy with....I never really know what to put on them.  I decided to use some inks I haven't used and try a bit of masking.  Must admit, I'm really happy with the way that it turned out.  The sentiment stamps are Clear Dollar Stamps and I'm not sure what the other one is (the leaf).  The inks are Memento Dew Drops.  I used 3 different colors.  Here's the end result:

Bunny Brushing

Today I spent some time in my craft room.  I think it's therapy.  I just put on some music (today was KLove on iHeartRadio) and pulled out an image that I received in a swap.  It was nice just to relax and spend some time being creative.  I colored the image with pencils - just wanting to keep it really soft.  It doesn't really photograph well, but in real life I'm very happy with the outcome.
